25 January 2015 marked Wadah Foundation’s 7th Anniversary. To commemorate its brief but amazing seven years, Wadah Foundation celebrated its anniversary at the Main Function Hall of CityWalk Sudirman in Jakarta.
Around 150 guests were in attendance, including Charge d’Affaires of Lebanon Joanna Azzi and members of parliament from Indonesia’s Gerindra Party, Fary Francis and Rahayu Saraswati Djojohadikusumo. Also present were executives of the Arsari Group, Friends of Wadah and the Board of Trustees of the newly-formed Pertubuhan Wadah Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, President Abdul Raof Shan, Secretary Farhani Grace Raof, Members Shahriman Sidik and Zhariff Muhammad.
Wadah Chairperson Retnaningtyas welcomed the audience and delivered the Foundation’s performance report. Her report focused on the rapid expansion of Wadah communities in Indonesia as well as on the official registration and operations of Philippines Wanita and Harapan, Inc., and Pertubuhan Wadah Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.
The astounding rise in the number of Wadah-assisted communities in Indonesia, called Pusat Kegiatan Masyarakat Wadah (PKM Wadah) or Wadah Community Activity Center, impressed the attendees. From 15 communities at the start of 2014, Wadah now has a total of 27 under its wings. In addition, Wadah has begun to take on new cases, such as the care of the elderly in the community.
Ibu Anie Hashim for her part thanked and introduced all Wadah warriors present: the coordinators, the executives, as well as the new family members of Wadah Malaysia.
