The National Education Ministry, in cooperation with PKM Wadah Warabal, held a national workshop on Financial Literacy from July 3-6, 2018 at the Warabal Community Center in Parung, Bogor. It is the second national event assigned by the Ministry to PKM Wadah Warabal. The first assignment was the founding of the program called Kampung Literacy or the Literacy Village at Pemagarsari Village, Bogor on September 2017 in order to boost reading interest of the villagers.
Arising from an unfortunate incident due to a slippery footpath involving a resident of Kampung Rinjani, the people, especially the women from PKM Wadah Kampung Rinjani, initiated the immediate construction of a 20-meter cemented footpath along the way to the site of the Wadah-assisted PAUD Titian Harapan Rinjani.
Pencak Silat or martial arts athletes of PKM Wadah Mutiara Abadi Yogyakarta, participated in the National Pencak Silat Championship called Yogyakarta Champions 1 on 18-19 March 2017.
Pos Pembinaan Terpadu (Posbindu) of PKM Wadah Al Hidayah and the Penjaringan Health Center, North Jakarta collaborated in the socialization program of early detection of cervical cancer using visual inspection with acetic acid (VIA) method on March 22, 2017.
With the support of the Wadah Foundation, 4 women from PKM Wadah Warabal - Mrs. Dede, Mrs. Lasiyem, Mrs. Ismulyana and Mrs. Adminah - participated in a sewing training course conducted by Hand Craft Gula Gula Community in December 2016 and January 2017 in Sawangan, Depok, West Java.
Currently the four women have started to apply their sewing knowledge and skills acquired from the training. They have since produced tissue cases, wallet, cangklong bags and carrying bags made from fabric.
To produce the items, PKM Wadah Warabal received 3 units of sewing machine donated by Wadah Foundation, Asuransi Astra and Good News From Indonesia (GNF). They also have got one unit press machine donated by Ibu Yuliani. Although demand for their products are not yet steady, orders have started to come in from local communities and even from companies such as Pertamina Patra Niaga.
The four women are aided by other women from the community in producing the items, by ironing and opening seams that are sewn incorrectly. (Kiswanti)
Ibu Anie Hashim Djojohadikusomo, Patron and Chairperson of Wadah Foundation, accompanied by a number of Wadah team members, inaugurated the new building of PKMW Bosskid called the Rumah Singgah (multifunction house) for the children in Tepus village, Gunung Kidul, Yogyakarta on December 14, 2016.
