Indonesia is a multi-ethnic country and rich in arts and culture. One of the more famous ones is Pencak Silat, which is a form of self-defense handed down through generation which is reflective of cultural behavior of Indonesia which has been handed down from generation to generation. Pencak Silat is very popular like any other art of self-defense. It has also been included as a competitive sport in the international sporting events like the SEA Games and Asian Games.
The Wadah Foundation has joined the Abdul Latif Jameel World Education Lab (J-WEL) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The Lab, launched in May of last year, promotes excellence and transformation in global education across the lifespan of the learner, through collaboratives at the pK-12, higher education, and workplace learning levels. The Wadah Foundation, which has joined the pK-12 Collaborative, is among a diverse group of initial members, including leading universities, major NGOs, and top companies.
In order to help boost public interest in reading throughvillage libraries, the National Library of Indonesia (Perpusnas) through the Library and Archive Office of North Maluku held a national library competition in May 2016.
