Wadah Celebrates Its 9th Anniversary


Wadah Foundation, which was officially founded on 25 January 2008, celebrated its 9th Anniversary on 24 January 2017 at Le Meridien Hotel Jakarta.

The anniversary celebration was attended by the Wadah “warriors” or volunteers from a number of Wadah communities in different parts of Indonesia. Also in attendance were the board of advisers of Wadah Foundation,  Friends of Wadah as well as delegates from the Embassy of Lebanon and the Embassy of Poland. The event was enlivened by performances of the children from PKMW Sukabaca Jatibening, who performed a traditional dance called “Dedogeran” while children from PKMW Cibodas Lembang presented a dance accompanied by a dynamic music from “Rampak Gendang.”

The Executive Director, Retnaning Tyas, started the ceremony with a brief report on the achievements of Wadah Foundation from its establishment up to 2016. It was also mentioned that there would be several changes with Wadah Foundation starting 2017 which includes its focus on pre-school education. Also, due to the current growth and needs of the organization, Wadah Foundation is reorganizing its structure starting from the head office to the regional community level in Indonesia. Retnaning Tyas also mentioned of a milestone Wadah Foundation received - a Special Consultative Status with the Economic Social Council (ECOSOC) since 2016.

It was noted that as of December 2016, Wadah Foundation has been supporting 8,883 people in 55 communities and satellite communities and has been in cooperation with 433 social workers under Wadah Foundation.

Mr. Hashim Djojohadikusumo, as the Patron of Wadah Foundation, stated that the mention of statistical figures should not be seen as being boastful as the foundation was founded to serve those in need for the glory of the Almighty God.
